Lewis Smith R. Lewis Smith, Jr., CPA, MBA – Founding Partner
Lewis began his Sage consulting in 1988 as a partner of a local CPA firm. In 1996 he formed his own CPA firm, Smith and Company, CPAs, and a new technology firm, Accounting Systems Consulting Group, LLC. Before becoming a CPA, Lewis owned a computer software firm. He has regularly served as discussion leader for the Society of Louisiana CPAs in the areas of technology and automation and internal controls in construction and manufacturing environments.

Serving as a consultant in the integration of automated manufacturing and distribution solutions with their related accounting systems, Lewis has fully implemented Sales Order Processing, Inventory Management, Work Order Processing, Multi-level / Indented Bills of Material, Purchase Order and Receipt of Goods Automation, and EDI Processing.

keith perkins Keith R. Perkins, CPA -- Operations Manager and Partner
Working at the firm since inception, Keith has been consulting on the Sage MAS 90 and 200 product since 1988. An employee of Lewis’ at a former CPA firm, Keith became an expert at the Sage MAS 90 and 200 product. Keith’s experience includes all aspects of the client system engagement – from sales, to implementation, to billing and renewals, and finally to support. During the early days of the firm, he handled the entire spectrum.

Armed with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and the CPA distinction, today Keith leads our firm, serving as a consultant in all industries with the Sage MAS 90 and 200 and Sage Abra products. He is primarily responsible for ensuring firm compliance with all Sage regulations and certifications, as well as guiding a staff on support, implementation, sales, and service. Keith’s certifications include Core Accounting, Distribution, Implementation Boot Camp, and scripting with Visual Integrator, as well as a certification in Sage Abra HRMS.

Ruth Guilliams Ruth S. Guilliams – Office Manager and Partner
Ruth has been with the firm since inception. A Sage MAS 90 and 200 user since 1996, she has a BA with emphasis in accounting. Ruth received training on the Payroll Module of Sage MAS 90 by a Sage Authorized Training Center and assists our client base with payroll and HR issues.

Her detail-oriented nature and experience in accounting compliments our consultants’ technological experience. Ruth handles the majority of our firm’s accounting and is the person to contact when questions arise on a bill or payment.


Karla Sweeney Karla A. Sweeney – Accountant
A Sage MAS 90 and 200 user since 2000 and a Sage Abra user since 2006, Karla’s experience as a user includes Payroll, HR, General Ledger, Accounts Payable, and Financial Statement Preparation. An employee since 2002, Karla attended Payroll and Accounts Payable training at a Sage Authorized Training Center and online training for report creation through Sage Abra.

Prior to working at our firm, Karla was a Payroll Administrator for a large franchisee of Taco Bell. Her experience running payroll for hundreds of employees helps our firm handle a spectrum of client payroll needs.

Barbara Parker Barbara K. Parker – Accounting Manager
Considered one of our most experienced users and accountants, Barbara came to our firm in 2005. After earning a BS in Business Administration, Barbara worked for a machine shop manufacturer where she implemented a Sage MAS 90 system. Eleven years later, she ran the accounting department of a local pathologist partnership where she implemented another Sage MAS 90 system.

A Sage MAS 90 user for sixteen years, Barbara has seen the product evolve from DOS to today’s Windows environment with the Business Object platform. Barbara has been formally trained on most modules in the Sage MAS 90 and 200 product and has participated in online training for reporting in Sage Abra. Her accounting experience and her experience as a user of Sage MAS 90 provides our firm with the perfect blend of knowledge from which our client base can benefit.

Shane Lafitte M. Shane Lafitte, MCS – Database Administrator
Shane also joined our firm in 2005. Holding a BS and Masters in Computer Science with emphasis on databases, Shane brought us the system knowledge which completed the equation for total support services of the Sage products. As a Master User of Microsoft Access and Visual Basic, Shane can truly enhance our clients’ database processing.

Besides troubleshooting issues with Sage products, Shane also serves as an instructor at LSU – Shreveport in Microsoft Excel and intends to teach Microsoft Access in the future. He has the patience to work with all levels of system users, so our clients benefit from his instructing experience. Shane has been using and supporting the Sage MAS 90 and 200 and Sage Abra products since 2005.
